Expanding picture effect doesn't work on featured image

  • I have a problem with expanding (zoom) effect when I put featured image on posts. I tried to scale it up and down (wide and height less, equal and more than 270) and none of this worked! The only way I managed to get image to zoom is when I put it in the text and then theme and then theme chooses the one for post title, but then I don’t have command on which picture is on post title page.

    I got it to expand only when image is exactly 270×250! Is it possible for theme to resize it automatically on that size?
