Slow loading times for custom theme

  • I recently downgraded back to 3.6 via FTP after encountering a few plug-in errors but then upgraded to 3.6.1 a few days later and the website is OK except for being painfully slow (takes around 20 seconds+ to load a page)

    I activated the Twenty Eleven theme and the speed of the website is fine so i’ve narrowed it down to being a problem with my custom theme.

    I’ve transferred back to a back up of the website of before I made any changes and the website is still slow for my custom theme which I find confusing.

    Any ideas on what could be causing the slow loading times?
