• Hi, first of all I saw that the plugin author already responded that Relevanssi doesn’t index files in WP Filebase.

However, I just wanted to check whether this is something that could be done in the future, given it’s a frequently used plugin and not having the possibility to search for binary files is a bit limiting indeed…

    Thanks!

Quite unlikely. Relevanssi can only handle WP posts. If Filebase would use a custom post type for data storage, it would not be a problem, but handling an external database is very complicated. Also, if I added support for one plugin with an external database, then the NextGEN gallery folks would be next and I’d end up doing support for plugins and nothing else…

Hi Mikko, fair point I guess. However, you’d also make your plugin stand out from the crowd as nobody else offers this… You could offer that integration for the premium version only and liaise with the developers of filebase and nextgen, which would create a significant competitive advantage over all the other search plugins out there. In addition, you don’t have to worry that the WP core search function gets improved (sooner or later it will) and relevanssi becomes irrelevanssi…

Not trying to sell you anything here my friend, but if you want to keep selling those premium licenses, I suggest you innovate ??

Good point, and it’s not that I want to add it –?but I’ve explored it, and it is really a complicated problem.
