Unable to set featured image in Minimatica 1.0.8

You should never edit the theme itself. Create a child theme for your changes instead.

yes i realise that now but can you please help me figure out how to set the featured image??

Not if you’ve edited the theme. You have, in effect, now created a custom theme and no one will have any idea what changes you have made and which of these changes is now causing your featured image problem. It would require extensive examination of the custom theme. If you cannot manage this yourself, you may want to consider hiring someone to look at it for you.

setting the featured image was available and worked okay until the latest wordpress update, everything worked okay and I have not made any changes to the code since long before then.
the issue i have is that when i click on “set featured image” the dialogue box opens but no images appear. if i try to upload the image to set as the featured image i get an error message.
