Edited Theme without a Child Theme…

Is it just one file you’ve been editing?

I’m not sure what you mean by file. I added an image mapped header, made a bunch of font tweaks, changed widths, added a sidebar to single post/page view, etc.

Which files have you edited?

So you have actually been making changes all over the place, yes?

Wordfence Security should be able to do a scan and show you which theme files have been changed where, and that should help show you how to proceed in converting your work to a Child Theme…

@esmi Basically yes, and now I’m feeling like I’m in a bit of a bind. And I’m a total amateur at this.

The other option is to turn your current, edited, theme into a new standalone theme. But the downside here is that you would longer upgrade when Thematic upgrades.

If you can recall which files you edited (or look at the modification date from a FTP software or file managing app provided by your host company), you’ll be able to download a copy of them, reinstall the theme and then make a file comparison to find what you changed. The use this to create a child theme.
