We do not currently support specific “Retina” displays but please feel free to propose this Feature Request here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Is there a plug-in (Retina 2x, Simple WP Retina, others?) that will work with NextGEN Gallery (or Pro) or the Photocrati theme to serve hi res images to HiDPI displays (i.e. Retina, Samsung Galaxy S III, ‘S IV, ‘Tab 4/Nook…).

HiDPI is here and growing fast. If there’s a plug-in that will work today and give us HiDPI support in NexGEN (with or without Pro) and/or Photocrati, we won’t have to wait on updates.

As photographers, we want our images to look their best. HiDPI support is critical to that goal. I dare say, more than anything else NexGEN can provide over it’s competition.

The code seems to be relatively simple, but I last coded (in Fortran) 30+ years ago. I understand it might not be a big priority for the developers (looking at all the other feature requests being looked at), so if a plug-in will work, that’s one less thing we all have to worry about.

@arved – Aside from this being a very old topic, there are simply no plugins or add-ons that we are aware of that will accomplish what you are describing.

It is still best in this case for you to add your thoughts and ideas about this as a Feature Request using the link above.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Thanks for blowing me off. Turnabout is fair play. I’ll be planning to abandon Photocrati from my website ASAP.

@arved – I’m sorry you feel that way but if that is what you see as the best course of action then I wish you all the best.

    Have a Great Day!

    – Cais.
