• I’ve long been a fan of WebRings and was a bit put off because there wasn’t a webring specifically for WordPress bloggers … so I created one! ??

For anyone interested, it’s open to all WordPress powered sites, sites about WordPress themes, plugins, hacks, etc., and any sites hosted by WordPress.com.

    ??

EDIT: D’oh! Forgot the link: https://l.webring.com/hub?ring=wordpressblogger

  • Well, I just tried to join it, and I filled out the sign up form 4 different times, and it’s not taking me. My typing skills aren’t THAT bad, now! Wonder if something’s wrong?

What error message are you getting? I’m logged in now and don’t see any submissions waiting.

NOTE: If your WebRing code is added and passes, the system should automatically approve your submission to the webring.

Tells me my password doesn’t match up, and it makes me fill out the entire form all over again. Red everywhere!

Okay, I’m in. For whatever reason, I had to go to the main page to sign in.

Weird … I was having a few issues too (last night). Plus another member’s site description was full of plus signs and weird characters, but everything seems to be sussed out today. ??

    Nice site, btw! ??

Thanks for joining the ring. ??

Hi Nitallica! Long time no see…. sounds like a fun thing to have set up, I’ll be checking it out!

[Is there any reason I can’t tweak the html so it’s not in a table?]

    Nitallica, thanks –

Although I’m wondering – I’ve put the code for the navigation at the bottom of the page and it doesn’t appear correctly? It’s giving me the default nav bar instead of the actual “Next site in the ring” thingamy.

I actually tried putting it in the sidebar at first, under the links, but the code wrecked the whole site. I’ll have to figure that out later.

Hi vkaryl, how’s it going!? ?? Great to see ya join up! ??

re: code. To be honest, I never use the javascript/SSNB code that WebRing gives ya. (I’m way too controlling, LOL!)

When you’re logged in to WebRing.com and looking at the WP WR, under “Member Tools” click on “Edit Site Information”, then click “Get Navigation Code”. Now you’ll see the box with the SSNB code. Scroll all the way down to the very bottom and look for “Members who wish to use the HTML version of this nav bar should go here.” When you click on that, you’ll be given code that you can edit to your liking. This is what I always use — I like bare minimum code (you can look on nitallica.org and see how I have all of mine).

The SSNB is handy if you want to join a lot of rings and not worry about updating your site over and over, but unfortunately it also puts you at the mercy of the webring owner and his/her taste in coding. Mine’s plain at the moment, and I may just see if I can make it like the plain/html version that I use (by hand coding).

REMINDER: If you edit your code, remember to use the HTML equiv’s of ampersands so your code will validate! ?? (I always forget that part, hehehe)

If you get stuck, lemme know and I’ll paste my code up somewhere for y’all to copy!

It’s slow, but I’ve got the code snippet up on Pastebin: https://nitallica.pastebin.com/757564

Hiya…. yeah, I found the “use html” link, grabbed the code, but haven’t started sorting it out yet. So thanks a bunch for yours, because I’m the “minimalist” sort myself….

    My pleasure. ??

Thanks again, m’friend! Your code enabled me to clean up a WebRing display for another site too….

    No problemo.

Ah, there we go, my nav bar looks alright now, though I’m on a different computer. Maybe just have to clear my cache or something.
