    I have a food blog and most of my already uploaded images are larger than 1 MB (ranges between 2 MB and 7 MB). I tried the bulk smush.it but most of my images are getting skipped due to the “unable to Smush due to Yahoo 1 mb size limits” notice.

    How can I compress these images without re-uploading them?

  • @dallasduobakes,

    Using the plugin you can’t. It is a limit in the Yahoo! API not the plugin. Even using the Yahoo! Smush.it service website directly you cannot upload an image larger than 1M. Sorry.

    Best option is download all the images to your local computer. Using something that will bulk smash then push them back to your server retaining the original filenames. But that would be outside of the plugin support. Good luck.

    @dallasduobakes,

    Another suggestion to automate things a little and do it all online on your website — you could try using the Imsanity plugin. Run it through all your existing images, making sure to reduce the size and/or quality enough to get most of your images down below 1MB.

    Be sure to back up your images first though just in case!
