How to count users?

Hm, upon extraction the coding gets messed up so I had to paste it from WinRAR to notepad to get the lines right. ?? Otherwise it works fine.

I need a plugin to count total members, this one mentioned is not available.

I put this in the WordPress Default 1.6 theme’s sidebar.php file:
