on a serious note, why dont you use your ftp client, and see if you have an .htaccess thats been set up to require access.

If you dont, why dont you ask 1and1..

the webiste was woking fine on friday and I did no changes to it.

hmmmm I seemed to have fixed it by changing the .htaccess file.

I hope this error does not come back again.

How this error occured, I do not know.
