Permalinks broken after update

  • Updated to 3.7.1 yesterday and today it’s been brought to my attention that categories and tags aren’t working. Didn’t this happen on 3.1?

    Categories go to a 404 page and tags go to the closest possible post including that word.

    Any ideas on this one?

    Downgraded and still no luck. Deleted htaccess and let wordpress create it and still no luck.

    Any ideas peeps?

    Go to your permalinks settings, select an option, and click save. Does that fix things?

    Or are you using a plugin to generate or manage your categories and tags?

    Didn’t help.

    I was using a plugin to get rid of the category base, but I tried disabling that and using the built in Yoast SEO category base removal option.

    Still no luck.

    Try going to any of the categories in the menu.

    The url’s in the menu reflect what the categories section in wp-admin show so the URLs are definitely correct but you’ll see that some give a 404, and others go to a post with the nearest wording that is close to it.
