Proper Way To Display Galleries From Within Albums
-
Hi,
This might get a bit long winded, so sorry in advance.
Is there a “proper” way to display galleries from within albums? The reason I ask this is because I have been adding galleries to my site using a Post. My process is to create a post, add a paragraph at the top describing the gallery, then adding short code below to bring up the actual gallery. Works pretty good, and I’m able to add tags to the post, which I think I like (still learning about WordPress). The problem occurs when I create an album. I can create the album and show it in either a post or a page, but when I bring up individual galleries from the album, I get a 404 Page Not Found Error.
If I switch WordPress Permalinks setting from “Post Name” to “Default”, the problem goes away. Trouble is, I don’t want to use “default”. I want to use “Post Name” for my Permalinks.
Moving along trying to figure this out, if I place individual galleries in individual Pages, from the “manage Galleries” page on NextGen, I then get proper behavior from the albums and galleries.
So I guess the main question is, do I have to place my galleries in individual pages in order to get them to behave properly from within the album? As I work through this, I’m beginning to think that the answer is YES because I want to display a brief paragraph in front of the gallery even when it displays from the album. It would be nice, however, to be able to do this from a post instead of a page. I plan to have many, many galleries on this site, and I’m afraid that using pages will get a bit unwieldy. Also, I am under the impression that I would like to “Tag” these galleries, which I can only do from a post, not a page.
This might all be a simple matter of me not understanding the proper or intended way to handle NextGen, and if so, I would appreciate someone setting me straight.
Any other suggestions or comments would certainly be appreciated too.
