When I install the backup there is no plugin directory. I have run two backups and the result was the same: no plugins. I checked the settings panel and found no option to include or exclude plugins. I read the facts and the features, and found no mention of plugins.

A backup without plugins is only marginally useful, so I figure the feature must be hiding around here somewhere.

    Thanks

    Found it.

Each “job” can be configured with many options, one of them is to specify which plugins get backed up. I guess the default is none.

Okay, this is more complicated than I realized:

There are 2 relevant tabs that you can see when you edit a job: Files and Plugins.

In Files tab there is a plugins option, if you check the box you get a list of all your plugin, each plugin has a checkbox next to it, but not clear what checking it means.

In Plugins tab there is a edit control box with

    Lightning-Mandarin.pluginlist.%Y-%m-%d in it.

This is true for both jobs, even though only one job has the plugins option check in the Files tab.

Another curious thing is: why is the plugin list called Lightning-Mandarin, when the name of my site LightningMandarin does not have a dash in it.

I just verified the download from the job with the plugins checked and I found just one plugin: Jetpack.

This is not better than nothing because I did not even put a check mark next to the name of that plugin. It was not the only plugin that I did not check, but it was the only plugin archived.

The First checkbox is, to include Plugins in the backup. The Second (Before the Plugin folder names) is, to exclude the Plugin folder that are checked. Hope that will help you.

    Alright. It worked.

However, it is counter-intuitive because checking the box does not have a consistent meaning. This means it is easy to make the error because some people (me) might not even notice the word “Exclude”.

I recommend that you change the secondary check boxes to be checked by default. So, when the user checks the primary box, the list will drop down with all options checked, then if the user wants to exclude one it is obvious that it should be un-checked.

This will reduce the probability of error in the future. My guess the error occurs all the time but won’t be detected until a recovery is required.

Ok, i will look how can it improve.
