Hi, so I realized that the header image is a background of a div? At least that is what I think I am reading. Is there a way to move it without adding a customized template to the child theme? If I do need a customized template can you point me in the right direction for where to start?

    Try reviewing child themes.

I have read over the child themes several times. I’m not looking for directions, I’m trying to ask which would be “best practice.” I’m sorry, I obviously worded my question poorly. I have multiple ways of hiding it and removing it, I’d just prefer to use the best practice if possible. I haven’t been able to find a section in the codex on best practices, if there is one is it called something else? Thanks!

Best practice would be to create a child theme and use a custom copy of header.php.
