I thought I’d find the solution in earlier posts but could not do so after hours of trying. So if this is a repeat request I am sorry about that.

The select drop down list box is showing a blank space at the top.

It would be nice if it can say Please Select or just Select at the top, with both the words not being one of the allowed inputs for the field.

    Thanks.

You can have more control over how this dropdown works if you use a custom template. The “pdb-list-detailed.php” template has notes that explain how it works.

Check this page for instructions on how to use custom templates.

Thanks Roland. That has helped with understanding how the frontend form gets displayed.

However editing a particualr field to show a certain value prevents the form from being reused and updated in steps. That is because the value I set in the pdb-record-default.php gets reset each time the record is updated.

It would be simpler to use the default value option. The problem I am having is the default value of the fields are NOT showing. How do I resolve this?

Thanks again. And like most users will add that this is a great plugin and great support as well.

    Ritesh,

OK, I understand now, I assumed you were talking about the search dropdown.

Default values are indeed not appearing in the record edit forms, and it probably shouldn’t be that way, or at least it should be possible to select that as an option.

I don’t have an easy way to make this happen, I’m working on an update right now, and I’ll make sure this is possible in the next release.

Thanks for all your time. The plugin gets the main functionality done just fine and default values not showing is not a big issue.

I will watch out for the update. We will be happy to help you with your work on that.

Well, if you want to download and test the beta release, I’d appreciate any feedback on that. It doesn’t currently have the feature discussed here, that will be in the next couple of days, but I’m very close to release and I want to catch as many bugs as I can before that.

Read the top post on participating in the beta test if you’re interested.

    Sure will do.
