• Hello, I did do a search but couldn’t quite find the exact same scenario. Basically, i had a working site on a subdirectory wp/wp-admin/then wanted to move it to root. So followed instructions on wordpress: went in to admin, changed site address. Then using dreamweaver copied the contents of wp folder to top level. I should say when i did chnage details via admin i did get an error after i pressed save. I think dreamweaver had some errors when copying. when i tried to view the site and admin there was just errors. I downloaded a copy of the site (whole WP folder) to my computer before any of this, via dreamweaver. I have uploaded this in the hope that it would revert to what i had before, but i get errors:

    https://gasfix.org.uk/wp/wp-admin
    and this
    https://gasfix.org.uk/wp/

Do i have to build the whole thing again. Seems like i have completely messed things up, or dreamweaver did.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Craig

  • I wouldn’t give up and completely build the whole thing again yet.

If you followed these instructions to move the site to the root folder, it may just be a matter of getting beyond that error in your admin and fixing a few things.

The first thing I would do is use an FTP program or Dreamweaver’s FTP to see if you have the folder /public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider
and if you do, rename it to:
    /public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider-disable
That will temporarily disable the revslider plugin and get you into your admin, hopefully.

If you can get into your admin, you should then be able to start with step 10 of those instructions to fix permalinks (which should fix your .htaccess file) and proceed from there.
