Add a Searchable Database

  • First off: Apologies if I posted this under the wrong category! I wasn’t really sure where it fit?

    But I’d like to add a searchable database (of research studies, including author information, publication date, etc.) to my WordPress site. Right now I have things set up with the Tablepress plugin:

    However, I hope to expand the data content to 1000+ entries in the near future, and would like something that displays results more like this:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=depression

    (I also like how on the search bar, a drop down menu displays intuitive suggestions as you type)

    I’ve been trying to search through Google, etc. for ideas and programs like Knack and Caspio have popped up, among others, but I have no idea where to start (is one better than another, is there an effective way to do this free or with plugins, etc.).

  • Hi, Knack actually works really well with WordPress. You can embed your app on any WP page with a simple embed script they provide.

    I work at Knack and we often recommend WP as a great website option to host the database on.
