    Hello,

I just started using WordPress and having some trouble… While attempting to create a child page for one of my main pages, I accidentally typed the title next to Permalink and it completely ruined the page I was working on. I tried going back and restoring it, I even tried deleting the title I created, and even though the title next to Permalink is gone, whenever I click on “View page”, the title I had deleted re-appears and it directs me to an Error page saying my page can’t be found.

Any kind of help would be appreciated! Thanks.

  • Do you find that page (or edited version of the URL) in your list of pages? If yes, click on that, edit the permalink to what you want it to be, save it and use that link.

I don’t find the edited version at all in my list of pages… I do however find the page, and when I try editing the permalink, it’s fine… but as soon as I view the page, I get an error and the title I had put pops up again…

    What’s your page URL?

    Lets say my website is:

    https://cooking.com/

I added a page called Top Recipes, and I had added pictures and text and everything was fine.

    So now we have cooking.com/top-recipes

Thinking I was going to expand on that and create an other child page, I wrote, “Thanksgiving recipes” next to that Permalink. Realizing that I had made a mistake, I went back, removed the thanksgiving recipes thinking everything would be back to normal and I’d get my page back. The title I created “Thanksgiving recipes” is gone when I try to edit the top recipes page, but when I view the page, thanksgiving recipes appears on the link… I tried restoring so many times, and whatever I do, I get that same error page.

I just want my top recipes page back with the pictures and text that I had created… It’s nowhere to be found…

This is just an example, my website it’s live yet.

Did you try clearing caches, using another browser or rebooting your machine and try to view that page?

It worked as soon as I cleared the caches! Thank you so much. Any idea why that happened for future reference?

May be this Wikipedia page on cache will help you understand it.
