• Hello all.

    Quite a tricky problem here.

    Okay, so – I’ve got a main domain. Hosted on Godaddy.

    https://www.backupserver.ca

    It uses Postname permalinks PERFECTLY.

    I’ve got a subfolder in that main hosting account, /ctsit/, running a wordpress install of it’s own. It’s currently using default permalinks.

    The domain https://www.ctsit.ca is pointed to backupserver.ca/ctsit

    On default permalinks, it works.

    When I switch to Postname, I get the following error;

    “If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.”

    Now, I can highlight that new ruleset and paste / save into the htaccess file on Godaddy.

    When I open an incognito window to test the site, the whole site shows up minus the homepage content. That 404’s. If I click a link (ctsit.ca/support) it actually brings me to backupserver.ca/support.

    I’ve tried everything here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7480699/wordpress-permalink-404-error-after-subdomain-to-root-migration

    Kind of lost here.

  • Contact GoDaddy about this. You simply need to point the domain to the sub-folder and then you can use the standard wp setup as if it was your root install.
