tried to use more tag,but it doesn't show up

  • hello, i am new to wordpress so, if u find my question stupid,bare with me. I am using “iconic one” theme,earlier it was “admired”. In “admired” theme “more tag” worked normally and i used to show 4 to 5 posts in the main page with “more tag”. But in the new theme i can see those 4 to 5 posts but in place of more tag or read more(even though i have used the tag) there is this […] . It is unclickable and more tag is not working. Please help me

  • Theme uses excerpt instead of content..so you are getting that.

    Do you want to have read more tags with custom break(do you want to manually break the content )
    then create a child theme and copy the content.php file in parent theme and place it in the child theme

    then go to line 55 where it says
    <?php the_excerpt(); ?> change it to <?php the_content('Read More'); ?>
