    I uploaded all files, edited wp-config.php, and then ran wp-admin/install.php. Told me it was already installed so log in.

    I can’t add myself as a user. This is the third install/delete. HOW do I add a user so I can log in?

    I tried the online install last night, creating the config file online. But there was an error so I decided to try again.

    Now I’m stuck.

    The users are stored in the database. An admin user is created when WordPress is installed, so you might be able to recover the password you set for that using one of the methods outlined at: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password

    Hm, I never set a pass for admin. I only set a pass for my db username. I never set a user or email for admin.

    But, I can get in via PHPMyAdmin or FTP. Thanks for that link. I will try FTP first as I’m not In a Windows environment and am not sure of PHPMyAdmin in iPad.

    Well… Directions say to

    Add wp_set_password( ‘password’, 1 );

    After the first <?php: in your active theme. I haven’t been in to set a theme. But, I tried to edit functions.php, but there is no <?php: . <?php has no colon at the top in twenty thirteen.

    I can’t use the Emergency Password Script as no email has been set. So, I’m going to look at PHPMyAdmin and see if it is doable in iPad. I used to be pretty good in terminal through MySQL command line. Now it’s just a blur.

    I just don’t want to delete/install again.

    @sicksquirrel,

    You seem to be having a plethora of issues of late. Have you considered hiring someone or have you not actually completed much of the previous advise on how to fix your site?

    It doesn’t sound like it was installed by the normal method. Did you FTP the WordPress files to the hosting server yourself or did you use a one-click installer supplied by your hosting company?

    I did it by FTP. I edited the config file. But no users were set. I’m thinking that since this is an install in the root directory, there are db tables from the install under /wp (which is now old-wp), I tried to login as the old user but it or sent accept me.

    I don’t want to attempt deleting tables since Infinite WP runs on that same domain nd controls eight sites.

    Edit: I tried via PHPMyAdmin but I’m not able to give my new username permissions. Waiting on my host to fix it because I always am able to do that.

    They just emailed and are working on it. They asked which db *eyeroll* when I explained I’m trying to give a user permissions.

    did it by FTP. I edited the config file

    I have installed many sites from scratch, from backup, from a conversion using the codex as a guide. What is written there works and works quite well when accomplished properly.

    Installed fine on all other sites. Only this one is giving me issues. And now it isn’t. Logged in under my old username. Now I just have to test a few other things but I’m in. This one had to be problematic due to old tables yet they held my old username which was good. But I’ll make a note (no memory) to clear tables on a reinstall.

    I’ve never done a one-click install in ten years. Always FTP, edit config, run install, configure, post.
