• My site is running extremely slowly and so is my dashboard. I’ve deleted every plugin I’m not using (and some that I was!), deleted the forum, deleted the gallery, installed W3 total cache (although minify CSS/Javascript didn’t work for some reason) – did a number of .htaccess tricks – installed gzip, (I think anyway, i’m no expert), disabled etags, used browser caching – basically everything I can think of and find online to try.
My hosting provider says that the problem is not at their end.
    Hellllppppp! ?? Thank youuuuu!

  • Hello!

I have checked your site with some speed tests, and it looks like that now the only request which loads considerably slower than the other elements, is this:

    https://www.ladieswholift.com/?mcsf_action=main_css&ver=3.7.1

You can check the results here:
    Pingdom test

It is a good idea to try to identify what plugin uses this. Do you have any MailChimp related plugins installed?

    Greetings,
    Toth Balint

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks both! Toth, I did a speed test and saw that was very slow, the unfortunate thing is I have NO idea what it is! I had mailchimp activated but have turned off now and it did not help.

Esmi, I have deactivated all plugins and returned to the default theme and it still does not help.
I will try resetting the plugin folder now and see if that helps.

Also, my dashboard is EXTREMELY slow as well not only the actual website…..

    Thanks, its so frustrating!

    You are very welcome!

Could you please tell me, what Hosting provider are you using, and is this a shared hosting account?

If you are geographically far from where your site’s server is, it is normal for the site to be slow, because the time the different requests need for reaching the server. For example, I live in Europe, and my sites are at Bluehost, their servers are somewhere in central USA. For me it can take up to 5 seconds for the front-end or the dashboard to respond, but if I check it with different pageload tools, it is considerably faster.

It is a weird idea, but try to turn off caching, and check how your site’s speed changes… It may be possible that the caching is slowing down the pageload, if the server’s settings are interfering with the caching plugin.

You should Install P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) to identify which plugins cause that. Most of cases some plugins cause that, that’s why I suggest you to find out if there’s any plugins causes that and if found then remove the plugins from your wordpress. This system helps me speedup my blogs performance.

Thanks guys – My hosting provider helped me set up gzip & browser caching properly and it’s much better today…. even with the plugins running again. This website business is tricky, but I’m learning all the time. Thank goodness for these forums though… I really appreciate your help! ??
