menu and feature pages

I am really new with WorfPress.
At this moment I am trying to customizer the theme called Customizr.
I dont really know how I can organize the menu and the feature pages. I am going to have 2 types of entrances, ones which will go properly to the blog and others with events, news… that will go to events.
So I have thougth about having 2 different categories ( Blog and Events) and to use them at the menu, but I can not use these with the feature pages.
Please, How I can put my categories at the feature pages??
