• Sorry if this has been covered on posts or in the Codex…I’ve spent a few hours looking but could not find anything specific.
I then ran this in an older post, but then realized it probably needed a fresh start.
Upgraded from 2.0.2 to 2.0.4 using Codex instructions.
    Well done and clear…many thanks!
Ran the upgrade script which told me success. Great!
But…hmmm…how come it still shows 2.0.2 on the page?
Did I miss something after all?
    Many thanks for your help.

  • kirker62 – I was going to upgrade from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4 and I thought the upgrade might affect some of the hacks I did to the template… color changes, banners, etc.

Did you find you had to redo somethings after the upgrade?

No changes are evident to my setup although I have not done any hacks and only a couple of plug-ins.
The only thing that is apparent is the 2.0.2 reference at the bottom of the page. I can ignore it if I know that it has truly upgraded.
Would like to know for sure.

Thanks, I hope it will be ok. I made some modifications and if I can remember all of them, no problems. Operative word is IF. lol

Maybe try clearing the cache in your browser…
I’m not sure but that may be it.

To upgrade from WP 2.0.2 to 2.0.4, you will have to upgrade your database; this happens “automagically” the first time you log in to the Admin Panel. After that, unless you are a programmer in WP, you will notice no differences.

Until you’ve logged in to the Admin Panel, your WP version will not be changed. This is because the version is stored in the database and it is not changed until you log in to the Admin Panel. All themes that I am aware of use a function call to the database in order to display the WP version.

Sorry it has taken me a while to reply…other concerns demanding attention.
Thank you for your input and help. In reply to the most recent post, I have logged in to the Admin panel several times and have seen no change in the version notation at bottom of page. I’ve changed themes as well, but everything still seems the same. Everything runs fine…I’ve checked the dates of files and folders (through my ftp, filezilla) and they all check out as the latest build.
Actually, I don’t mind seeing the wrong version listed, just so long as I’m able to verify it has truly upgraded.
Unless there are some possible visible changes to help me verify this, I guess I’ll wait until the next upgrade and try again.

I’ll pop in on this one. If it’s doesn’t say “2.04” at the bottom of your Admin screen, then no, you didn’t upgrade.

I had this same problem too, initially. Now, I don’t know if you did the same thing I did (my mistake was one of those “D’oh!” ones when I figured it out…), but I uploaded 2.04 as a folder alongside my 2.02. Then I ran the upgrade, and it said everything upgraded just fine, but I was still seeing 2.02 at the bottom of my admin screen. It wasn’t until I re-read the codex that I realized I was supposed to *overwrite* my files with the new ones, and then run the upgrade – not place it in another folder and run it.

Like I said – dumb mistake on my part (mainly due to the fact that what I did was pretty much what you do when you upgrade Moveable Type, and I’ve used MT for years), but maybe it’s possible you did something similar?
