I’m a raw beginner. I like the theme 2013, but I don’t like the color. I don’t know CSS (I know a little basic html, but that’s all), but I’d like to be able to change the background, footer, and font colors. Is there a plug-in I can use to do that, or would I have to use CSS? I’m really not comfortable getting that technical, but it seems like there ought to be an easy way to change the colors and it’s just that I’m not finding it. Please tell me there is.

  • You can try the Styles plugin. IMO, you’re better off learning CSS, it will give you more control in the long run.

Thanks. At some point I do plan to learn CSS, but if I stop to do that now it’ll take far too long to get my website up and running. I just want to make some simple changes, is all. I’ll try the Styles plug-in.

I’ve already seen the CSS tutorial you linked to, and I couldn’t make the lessons work. When I copied the first example notation into a Notepad file, saved it with the .html extension, and opened the file in IE (I don’t want to switch browsers, I’m comfortable with IE), all I got was plain black print of the notation. So until I figure out what I did wrong, and I haven’t been able to so far, I’m kind of stuck, anyway.

    Hi MMJustus,

If you’re running TwentyThirteen you can use the StylesPlugin to change all the fonts and colors in the theme.

You will need to install both the parent plugin and the child plugin as listed here:

    Styles Plugin
    Styles: TwentyThirteen

If you run into any questions or need support from Paul, the plugin author, please post a note in the support forums found in the repository.

    Styles: TwentyThirteen Support
(note: you can use the main Styles Support for any questions related to the plugins.)

We hope you enjoy the plugin!
