Publicise / G – how can I make it share 'publicly'

You can change that setting by going to Settings > Manage Apps & Services on Google+:

When you make the connection, you actually get to choose whether you want your posts to be public, limited to some of your circles, or private:

It seems you had chosen to keep your posts private when you first made the connection.

I have the same issue. In the settings page, I disconnected the Google Plus account both in the “publicize” section where you add account and in the “Google Plus Profile” underneath but in both cases, when WP connected, it didn’t give me the option to select “share publicly” your creative activity.
What would you recommend I do ?

Ok have now changed the settings on my Google pLus profile page so maybe that will do the trick ?

That should help you make sure your posts are shared with the proper audience.

I believe you’d get the same screenshot if you were to click on “Edit”.

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
5) Click the “Contact Support” button.
