MySQLi extension requirement

PDO not works in moment.
there is a difference betwen mysql and mysqli. mysql php extensin ist mostly installed. but it is deprecaded for future releases of php. BackWPUp need mysqli for database backups.

Now how do I make sure my present WordPress installation recognizes the database with the new extension?

Is it a simple or easy fix?

In answer to my own question, I just discovered this plugin:

Hallo, you can’t do it with a plugin. THat is a PHP extension.
Ask your hoster for installing or enabling it.

BackWPup will not work on my site either because of the missing MySQLi php plugin. ??

I have a VPS and so am my own “host” and I cannot find a way to install it.
One site said I would need to re-compile PHP, but that is beyond me.
Why is it all made too hard?

My VPS is Centos 64 it. PHP is 5.4.???

Sorry but on Centos i can’t help. Please search in the web for help for activating the MySQLi extension of PHP.

Problem solved.
I logged into WHM on my Centos64bit VPS as root, and from withing WHM I ran the EasyApache process, and in the advanced settings there was an option to recompile Apache (and PHP and lots more).

In there I found a checkbox for php_mysqli or something…

After it ran the recompile (about 3 minutes), and nothing was broken, the BackWPup now works GREAT.
