• Our production website https://www.beau-events.co.uk/ has been live since June 2013 and uses the JetPack plugin. Using the JetPack Publicize feature, recent new blogs are published to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and LinkedIn. However we noticed that the Twitter posts included a short link to our original test site (https://www.wptest.beauevents.co.uk/), not the production site. I was having to use a redirect function in the test site to point the link back to the correct page on the main site to deal with the issue temporarily. The short link problem only affected Twitter, not the other accounts.

I just found the WordPress forum entries describing the method to fix this, i.e. disconnect JetPack from WordPress, then re-connect it. I have also followed the advice to re-save the General tab settings with the web address etc. I have also disconnected JetPack from WordPress on the test site, leaving it disconnected.

These actions have not cleared the fault I still have though: On the main site Sharing page (Dashboard->Settings->Sharing), the social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr) all show the correct username for each account, followed by (in red)

    Jetpack: [failed_publicize_action] Invalid Publicize ID.

Each social account has the same error, but the error message appears a few seconds after the page has loaded, not straight away.

Each social account listed has the ‘x’ button next to it, to disconnect the entry, e.g. disconnect Facebook account “Beau Events”, but when tried, the entry is not disconnected and a dialogue window appears with the unhelpful message of “You have successfully connected your blog with your Facebook account.” Clearly I’m trying to disconnect it, not connect it.

Not sure what to do now. I can’t disconnect the social accounts from Publicize and disconnecting and reconnecting JetPack from WordPress.com didn’t seem to fix it either. I’m only disconnecting the accounts so that I can cleanly connect them again without reference to the test site.

Can anyone help? All I want is for the short links in Twitter of published blogs to point back to https://www.beau-events.co.uk and not the test site.

    Thank you.

Ok, this is another case of the problem going away once you ask for help.

Soon after submitting my post I again visited the Sharing page and once again tried the ‘Refresh your Facebook account’ button (same for Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) which did not help yesterday seem to work today (typical!)
I refreshed the Facebook account cleanly and this time on returning to the Sharing page, the other Refresh buttons had gone and were replaced by Add New buttons. I have cleanly added the social accounts once more and input a test post to check. Finally the Twitter short link is pointing to the post in right web site.

Maybe my previous attempts to disconnect the social accounts have been finally recognised by JetPack. I’m wondering if it takes a few hours to clean up the servers, especially after I disconnected JetPack in the test site from WordPress.com.
