Admin not recognizing 3.8 update

I have cleared the cache and history but no change. Just to be sure – I checked on several computers that I never use for websites and the problem existed there as well.

I believe I followed the directions for the manual update correctly, I went through them step by step. But perhaps not?

Have you tried deactivating all plugins & switching to the default 2013 theme before running an upgrade?

I’m running a 2012 child theme. I did deactivate my plugins during the update.

Do I need to switch to the 2013 theme, deactivate and upload 3.8 again?

OK – I went in and deactivated 2 plugins and activated 2013 theme. Followed the update manually instructions including updating manually both plugins. Reactivated the plugins. No change on any browser or computer. Still getting the old admin saying I need to update and the live site saying I have updated.

and it stops there. It is the same for plugins and themes.

Please switch from your child theme to the original, unedited, 2012 parent theme.

Done – no change.

Still shows WP3.6.1 and a bunch of plugins active. Are you sure that you don’t have caching on your site or server?

If you updated manually, did you delete the old files first (make sure you are not overwriting wp-content wp-config or .htaccess).

Do you have an server caching going on? I didn’t see pagespeed or varnish, but if you have APC or MemcacheD, that may matter.

It looks like it is a server caching issue. Am working on it and will let you know.
