Multiple containers/breakpoints supported?

Is using multiple containers, along with specifying breakpoints for each of those containers, expected behavior? For instance, if I expect to be displaying images in both columns of a 2 column layout I have, can I enter both column container names and add in widths for each breakpoint of both columns?
