Buddypress plug-in not working in 3.8

    Hi I have just downloaded WP 3.8 and installed it. I tried to install buddypress but get a blank admin screen. There is nothing on the screen at all. The only way I could restore the admin was to remove the plug-in folder from the server. The site was still visible from the browser but the admin was blank.
    The theme is twenty fourteen. default
