    It would nice to have GAE supported fully.

    Accessing remote data over HTTP:
    For this it should use URL fetch interface. GAE-4-WP patches a lot of functions for WP, so perhaps you could look into using that functionality. Or you could do it like Google Apps Login Does it, they implement GoogleIO class

    Disk access:
    Not allowed in GAE afaik.

    Database:
    Wrapped by WordPress (GAE-4-WP)

    Users that are invested in GAE usually use Google Analytics, WP Statistics is for self hosted sites primarily.
