• I updated clients page on 12/20 and it was working fine. Client called to complain 2 days later that page wasn’t right. When I checked the revisions a mystery edit showed by an unknown editor.

    See image of revision:

All other revisions show me or client as the editor.

All other users are subscribers. Checked the database to confirm this.

    Thanks for any insight.

your site don’t see to have any malware.

To rule any plugins or theme issue, try:

    – deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try deactivating via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. If applicable, also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
    – switching to the unedited default, core-bundled Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    – Please report back if that does not help.

I am confused by your response. Perhaps you responded to another’s issue?

I didn’t post my website url, so not sure how you know if there was/wasn’t malware.

I have no problems getting into my admin dashboard.

I do not have any mu-plugins.

That is Tara’s standard response to every issue, regardless of whether it is relevant or not.

This seems to be an unusual issue, and it’s hard to give any clear response as we’re not privy to the details of the edit. If you are concerned about a security breach, you should (1) upgrade WordPress to the newest version and (2) consider installing a security plugin for your WordPress installation.
