    Hi there,

    I’m building my first WordPress site and while I’ve got most things working well (thanks to the great threads on here!) but am having trouble with one major thing that I can’t find a similar thread on that has a solution I can use so hopefully someone can help me here.

    I’m using the Twenty Thirteen theme and want to add a widgets to the sidebar/secondary widget area. Unfortunately, when I add a widget my layout for the main content goes crazy and squashes it all up to the left. Here’s an image showing what I mean:

    <img src=”https://www.prettyconfused.co.uk/misc/wpfail.gif&#8221; />
    image

    I’ve tried playing with the CSS for the sidebar and tried some php editing after reading another post with a similar problem to no avail.

    Can anyone help ne with this? I’m sure it Must be something simple I’m missing but I’ve spent a few hours on it now and really need some help.

  • can you post a live link to your site to illustrate the issue?

    does this happen with an unedited Twenty Thirteen and all plugins deactivated?

    I’m not sure if it was working without plugins and before adding the child theme though, sorry.

    Is that something I can check without destroying the setup of my site so far?

    The numbers represent TOP, RIGHT, BOTTOM, LEFT.
    Adjust to your liking.

    Thanks for the great info here.

    I’m using the same theme and would like to have a widget show only on the landing page and not the others. Does anyone know of a CSS snippet to could make this possible? Right now, whatever you put in the secondary widget area shows on all pages through out the site.

    Thanks in advance.
