• The MT Importer was easy enough to configure, but once I imported my entries, it screwed up alot of my HTML tags by substituting garbage characters for proper code.
    Example:

    via WIL WHEATON DOT NET:

    Take a look….
    https://www.digiverse.net/canadiangeek/index.php
If I can’t fix this problem I think it will prevent me from making the switch to WP. I have a lot of conetnt and I don’t have the time to fix each entry manually.

  • ignore that previous example and just look a my site to see what I mean…

Thanks. Exporting from FireFox seems to have solved the problem. Bu is there anyway to import the entries under my admin account instead of auto generating a new user?

Oh, thanks for the custom import. That is what I needed before. I will use it for my next conversion. On my previous switch I went into the db and changed the author of all the entries to admin. So can I now just go in and delete the extra user in the database that was created when I imported?

You don’t have to go to the db for that. From the admin interface, you can delete that particular user by demoting him to “0” and then clicking the red X.
That will also delete all his posts. Deleting a user in the db won’t delete his posts.

    re: 2fargon’s custom import script
the script only seems to works if the account name is ‘admin’… which was no big deal, I didn’t realize it right away when trying to import my archive under a different a name.
secondly, after using the script everything looked fine until I noticed that none of my comments had been imported.
    Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for the feedback haasim. ??
It should work for other userids/names too. All I do is ask it to substitute the name you supply for every post as the author name.
I have been at the script after that too, the one you are referring was a quickfix. I am waiting for word from some dev before I post the new script somewhere.

2fargon: Thanks. I’d already gone into the database and changed all posts to my main login, so the user I want to delete has no posts.
