Troubles with theme (cup o Joe) in IE and Maxthon

  • I just installed the theme Cup O’ Joe template by callistawolf.

    The theme works great in Firefox 1.5.0.6. I don’t believe I ever checked it in Internet Explorer 6.0 until Today.

    When I open my blog in IE at work, the entries are all down to the bottom of the page under the side bar. This also happens in Maxthon. However in Firefox and Opera the theme is absolutely fine.

    I don’t want to post any codes here until requested but maybe someone could take a look at my blog in IE and tell me what could be wrong before I overload the post with codes.

    And found 114 errors. Some are stemming from my entries. The other issues I’m unsure of how to fix them.

  • That many errors won’t help, for sure. Some of them are quite important (like div tags in wrong place or unclosed!)

    The sidebar problem in IE usually is caused by an element (like a picture, banner – hint! -) that is wider than your content area of sidebar width.
    By doing a search here you could’ve found hundreds of posts reporting the same: sidebar down in IE. The fact that your posts go down doesn’t matter; that’s how your theme is coded.
    Try to remove that huge banner and the X-mas(?) tree pic: that image is 500px wide, while your content area is also 500. Now, if you substract the border, margin, padding… that’s the max width for a pic you can have.

    Thanks! I removed the big banners and the larger pictures but I think it’s majorly the side bar and the coding.

    As long as you don’t add anything to the side bar, you’re okay.

    I think it looks like I just may change the layout – I’ve had troubles with a few of them just from the coding alone. ?? It anyone you would recommend that would be the best where you can just add your own header with out all these coding problems?
