Hi, since yesterday I noticed my Jetpack twitter timeline widget broke. It’s still visible as a widget, but doesn’t display any tweets any more. Just “My Tweets”. By turning down all other plugins, it seemed that there is a conflict with NextGen Gallery. Strangely, both plugins are last updated in december and I didn’t make changes on any of them recently. It just stopped working. I tried disabling all plug-ins again and the Nextgen as last one, but the conflict is really in between them.

When I put the embed-widget from Twitter itself in my sidebar there’s no problem, but that misses the functionality like hiding scrollbars etc, which the Jetpack version does have. I’m really confused and don’t know what to do next. Any solution would be appreciated.

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

I’m sorry! My website URL is https://www.estrellaweb.nl

At the moment you will see a Twitter timeline, but after posting this, I found out I could customise the ‘standaard’ Twitter widget, which gives me the same options.

But, I still would prefer using the Jetpack Twitter widget. If you prefer, I can put back the Jetpack timeline for a while, so you can see how it refuses to work. Please let me know!

It seems you’ve made some changes to your theme’s footer.php file, and removed important parts of that file in the process.

Could you edit that file again and make sure it includes closing </body> and </html> tags, as well as the wp_footer() function right before the closing </body> tag? This function is used by plugins like Jetpack to insert elements into your site’s footer. Twitter’s Javascript library is added to your sit via this function.

If the file already includes such functions, you’ll want to look at other plugins that use the wp_footer() function and make sure the plugins don’t include code that would break your footer. At the moment, page rendering seems to stop right after the Clicky Web Analytics tracking code you’ve added via this plugin.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you so much! Now you mentioned the footer file, I instantly remembered I edited something there last week, but when I decided that the script I was wanting to use (for something else) didn’t work, I removed that part again. Unfortunately I must have deleted some of the required stuff. I uploaded the original header of my theme again and now the Jetpack twitter widget works like a charm again!

I have to say I already noticed it was strange. Usually conflicts between scripts of plugins don’t just occur out of the blue, so I was going through my files to see which one I edited lately. Unfortunaly I forgot about the footer. Great!
