Multiple Online Stores – Which Servers/Which Config/SSL?? HELP!!!

  • I hope someone can point me in the right direction before my head explodes!!

    I apologise in advance for the long message – If you are bored easily then just scroll to the bottom and take a look at the 3 question – I am sure its me being a dumbass?

    I have one live buy online website that is my main business. This is hosted through 1and1 shared hosting using a Dedicated SSL from Geotrust. I use woocommerce with a mixture of Gravity Forms and PayPal Pro (Card Payments taken on my site NOT redirected) to take payment. Initially I failed PCI compliance and this, I was told, was because I was on a Shared Hosting account at 1and1 and NOT a Dedicated Server.

    I therefore went and purchased a dedicated server from 1and1. Before I got round to set it up my Shared Hosting store PASSED its PCI compliance and PayPal gave us back access to our PayPal account and we have been taking card payments without issue since.

    I then launched a second site, got it set up as a stand alone site hosted in the 1and1 shared hosting using woocommerce with PayPal Pro (even managed to use the same PayPal account with a bit of playing around). I then went to purchase the second SSL Certificate only to find out that shared hosting can only have ONE CERTIFICATE

    Back to my Dedicated server then.

    But – here is the question..

    QUESTION1
    If I install 2 folders on the 1 and 1 Dedicated Server /website1/ and /website2/ and have wordpress installations in both will this not count as shared hosting as far as PCI compliance is concerned?

    QUESTION 2
    Can I have an SSL for the server that both website1 and website2 SHARE? Will this work for PCI Compliance

    QUESTION 3
    Would I be better off having a WordPress Multisite Install?
