• RE Hosting Domains: Doster has terrible customer service. Liquid Web has great customer service. Unfortunately I tried Dotster for my WordPress site.

Yesterday things were working fine but today all the links on https://preservingtheamericanpoliticalphilosophy.com lead to 505 error pages.

Dotster Support tells me there is no error because they can access the home page just fine ! So can I but when I try to tell them that it is the links that do not work, the response is silence for hours and hours.

I deleted the Akismet app I installed the other day but that did nothing.

I have a feeling that someone has managed to insert a script that redirects pages to the 505 page. This may sound nuts but there is some background history that leads to this suspicion.

I am wondering if reinstalling wordpress would set things right but even my admin page leads to a 505 page

Also wondering if there is a way to check for alien scripts?

Is there a way to protect against alien scripts?

I think I had a backup app installed. Where might I find it?

  • I would try renaming the .htaccess file first, before re-installing. Should you decide to re-install just follow this guide https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress

    Hope that helps ??

    Thanks For the response.

I finally have been in contact with someone from Dotster who listens to what I am saying. Apparently all the links are accessible from their end but then she checked something called megaproxy which shows what the rest of the world sees and saw that there was an error and so I should hear from Dotster sometime today. I will wait for that response first.
