• I go to Network Admin>Sites and add a new site. After I fill in all the info and click “Add,” after a few seconds I am taken to an HTTP 500 “The website cannot display the page” page. However, when I hit the back arrow in the browser, and select “My Sites” the site just added shows up. So it was added. The URL that is throwing the error is:

    https://international.goodnewsjail.org/wp-admin/network/site-new.php?action=add-site

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated. Thanks.

By the way, I have another multisite on the same IIS server and I have no problem adding sites. I do not get the error. It is peculiar that on the working site I also had no problem adding users who names contained a period. On this new multisite I had to nodify the config file to allow periods. If I could find out what is different about the non-working site, it would probably solve both issues?

Check your server error log. A 500 is normally a htaccess error, but if it happens after a few minutes, it could be memory issues.

    Mika:

How do I check the error log on my server. Where do I look? As I noted, why would this occur on one multisite and not another on the same server?

On my server (Windows Server 2008 R2) I am looking at the event viewer. What would I look for?

I was just experimenting, I network disabled the plugin, “YD Network-wide options,” then tried adding another site. It worked without error. I network reenabled the same plugin and all subsequent site additions worked.

When these boogeymen hit, it is perplexing.

It does indeed appear to be related to the “YD Network-wide options” plugin. When I set some of the network-wide options, I begin to get the HTTP 500 error when I create a new site. The site that is working does not use this plugin. So there we have it.

It does not appear that the plugin has been tested with WP 3.8, and support does not seem to be happening.

When I set some of the network-wide options….

    Any options or specific ones?

FWIW, the plugin still works, but it’s going to be less tested on Windows :/

When I have no options checked, it works. I then select the options I want to make network-wide, and the error is thrown. The options selected include:
    active_plugins
    c2c_configure_smtp
    current_theme
    sidebars_widgets
    stylesheet
    template
    widget_text

Okay, you’re doing too much at once ??

    Pick ONE option (active_plugins say).

    See how that goes.
