Revert Google XML Sitemaps to WordPress DB Connection

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone more wise in the inner workings of PHP and WordPress could tell me if it would in any way be possible to make the Google XML Sitemaps plug-in connect talk to the WordPress database via the WordPress connection instead of how it currently works by creating it’s own?

I am using the WP DB Abstraction plugin to allow me to use SQL Azure with the PDO SQL Server driver as my database. WordPress and all my other plugins work just fine but because Google XML Sitemaps generates it own connection, WP DB Abstraction isn’t able to convert it’s connection attempts to MS SQL and they fail.
