Why wont image gallery show images?

  • For the past few weeks I cannot upload any images to my website/blog.
    I am a bit of a novice but have managed to add them in the past so not sure why it wont work now.
    I have written a new blog post and clicked on ‘insert media’ I go to upload an image in the usual way but it just shows it with a small ‘x’ it isn’t showing a thumbnail and wont upload in the post. I have tried resizing etc and have tried a few different images but nothing works.
    I have installed a plug in called ‘easy image gallery’ but being a novice, have no idea how to use it! How do I insert images in any other way than the image gallery?

    Any help would be very much appreciated, I have become very frustrated with this!

    It version 3.1.8 and the theme is based on ‘A Thematic Child’ but it has been customed and as I paid somebody to do it, a lot of it is locked so I can only make certain changes. However, I used to be able to add media but now it just shows up as an ‘x’.
