Installing a plugin returns an error

    I’ve been experiencing some trouble lately with installing plugins. Every time I try to install one, it returns this error:

    Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 10 seconds exceeded in /home/a7878550/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 209

    I’ve Googled this error and saw that there were some similar issues with it but none seemed to lead to a solution.

    Also, I’m pretty new to WordPress and hosting a website in general, so any help is appreciated.
