Can't upload pictures in WordPress 3.8.1

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

I changed back to default permalink and now my uploads work in 3.8.1. Hope this is helpfull for someone, took me hours.

Where is default permalink? Please.

found it but it was already default.

The permalink setting is https://localhost:8888/wordpressinht/?p=123
which is the defult.

When I try to load a .jpg in this is what i get.
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I am having difficulties with this, and the permalink solution doesn’t seem to work. The image appears to upload, but doesn’t show the thumbnail, and I cannot place it in a page. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
