Nextgen gallery -thumbnail to popup slideshow

I can’t get these thumbnails to pop up with the same gallery effect found here:
https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/help/shortcodes/(I want it to pop up to a gallery like in example Thumbnail Gallery
[ nggallery id=36 ] – first one.Mine just pop up to the photo file.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
