    Good Afternoon,

If I test pages of my site in the Google SDTT Google appears to be associating a link-type-author from one of the social tags as a rel=”author” link, I’m not sure if it’s being generated from the All In One SEO plugin or Shareaholic. If it is the All In SEO plugin, is there a way to correct this?

See SDTT result of home page.
See SDTT result of about page.

Thankfully on a blog post page the actual rel=”author” link (that I’ve manually placed in the head) appears first therefore not causing issues for authorship. If I were to implement authorship via the plugin would the actual rel=”author” tag appear before the social tag? Currently Google checks the first rel=”author” tag on the page therefore it’s important for the first tag be the proper tag.

    Thanks for your help!

    Grace

Sorry forgot to provide a link for a Blog Post SDTT result.

Shareaholic doesn’t add rel=”author”. The only tag it does add is the og:image tag (which you can turn off). Hope this info helps!

    Hi Grace,

I can’t tell where that code is coming from due to the minification on your site which removes our comments in the source code; however, it shouldn’t be an issue with All in One SEO Pack if you’ve followed my instructions from the other thread.

    Good Afternoon Shareaholic,

I know that you don’t add the rel=”author” tag please read my post, Google appears to be recognizing link-type-author as a rel=”author” tag and I’m not sure which plugin is generating it.

    Grace

Ah. Shareaholic doesn’t add “link-type-author” either.

Easiest way to test is to disable all your plugins and then turn them on one by one to figure it out.

    Good Afternoon Shareaholic,

Btw, I have sent a support thread because I have turned off og:tags in Shareaholic and for whatever reason they are still populating along with meta keywords. Maybe you could answer the question submitted to Shareaholic. With all due respect my question here was to the support staff for All In One not shareaholic.

    Good Afternoon Peter,

Are you speaking of the thread where you provided code? If so I responded to that thread for further clarification. I have not used the plugin currently to setup authorship.

I created a separate thread for this issue because I don’t think the two are related. I haven’t used the plugin to implement authorship.

    Grace

    Hi Grace,

Yes, I am; it looks like the URL being generated is “https://” – either make sure that isn’t present as a Google+ author URL in your settings and in the author’s profile, or use the code I provided in the previous thread to prevent rel=”author” links from appearing on your About page via All in One SEO Pack.

Sorry Peter, one more thing, did you notice my post on this thread, I implemented the code you mentioned but unfortunately it didn’t work.

    Grace

    Hi Grace,

What problem are you having, exactly? That code should take care of social meta descriptions being generated when they shouldn’t be.

    Hi Peter,

The meta description is retrieved from the page rather than using the All In One SEO title and description.

See source code for this page.

    Good Evening Peter,

I took Shareaholic’s advise and disabled Shareaholic and the link-author-type was not being generated from their plugin. When I disabled All In One SEO the link-author-type data disappeared. Therefore I hope I’m assuming correctly but it appears Google is extracting this data from code that is generated from the All In One SEO plugin.

Please see the extracted data section, rdfa node.

    Hi Peter,

If I’m understanding you correctly you’re saying that the link-type-author data (url of the page) Google is extracting is coming from the code below regardless of whether the page url is appearing in that code?:

    <link rel=”author” href=”https://&#8221; />
    <link rel=”publisher” href=”https://&#8221; />

I’m confused because it doesn’t have a full url?

I haven’t used the plugin to implement authorship and publisher, is there a way to remove the tag so it doesn’t populate on all site pages?

To note, I have not placed my Google+ Personal Profile ID in the user section, nor have I added either my Personal Profile Url or Page Url in the plugin Google+ settings.

    Grace

    Hi Grace,

A URL such as “https://&#8221; is incomplete, and might be interpreted as a URL pointing to the current page instead. The code I gave you previously shouldn’t allow for links like that to display, but I will test this further before we release the next major plugin update.

    Hi Peter,

I didn’t use the code you provided because I was merely trying to find answers to pass along to AIOSP users that were having issues implementing authorship so it would only appear on appropriate pages.

I was able to fix the incomplete urls by resetting the General Settings to Defaults. I cleared the cache then personalized the settings again and the incomplete urls disappeared, not sure why but it worked.
