• basically i’m seeing the same issue this guy did: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/12052?replies=2

the character ? gets inserted throughout my post. if i go into my db and remove it from the record, every thing is fine, but i want to figure out why it is getting added in the first place.

i’m currently using WP 2.0.4 and the built in WYSIWYG editor. the most common place the character gets inserted is directly after a period ending a sentence and sometimes there are two between paragraphs.

anybody know how i can fix this?

    thanks.

  • Are you copying and pasting from word or something? From what I’ve seen, that’s almost always the issue.

If you must use word to write a post, before you paste it into the WP editor, copy it and paste it into a plain text editor like notepad. (no, not wordpad – notepad)

Then copy that and paste it into WP’s editor. You’ll have to do your bold, italics, center, etc in the WP editor (unless of course you’re HTML savvy and want to do the whole thing that way, but I’m assuming you’d rather not go that route) but Word inserts all sorts of funky formatting that you can’t see, and it gets copied over to the posts if not cleaned out.

also – take a look at this:
    https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.afex2win.com%2F
55 HTML errors… try fixing those up and see if that helps too.

i’m typing the whole post in the editor and sometimes opening the “html view” when i want to use some specific tags or float an image to the left or something.

i’ve implemented the fix noted here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/55282?replies=15#post-303707 and will continue to monitor the problem to see if it continues.
