i tried to delete .htacess file and lets WP make it again but wp can’t create it,then i created empty .htaccess with chmod 777 and then again i tried to use permanent link (custom structure /%postname%/ ) but after updating permanent link i got 404 error on every link,i looked at .htaccess file and i saw its empty,my WP cant create rules in .htaccess ,now i uploaded my old .htaccess file and my new page (https://hadi.rulex.net/archive/) are still 404! but everything exept this works fine.

    still waiting here for answer

Are you on a windows server?

Windows servers do not have the .htaccess file, found that out myself two nights ago

Uh, they do too. I have Apache running on my local Windows machine and I use .htaccess files all the time on it.

That would be IIS (Microsoft’s own web server) doesn’t have IIS…

Yeah, but not all Windows servers run IIS, plus WP’s permalinks page automatically doesn’t allow you to have full pretty permalinks if you have IIS.

let me correct my post, through my Hosting service, they use Windows servers running IIS and do not have the .htaccess file. from my understandings if your running Apache, than you’l have this file available.

now I have not tried to create the .htaccess file on my web site. More than likely I can, just never bothered with it.

does anyone know if it would be a really good benefit or what?
