Suggestion/Request: Have Options Shown as Sidebar

In the backend editor, a lot of the options shown would be in the narrow column of the editor, and having them displayed full-page in a popup seems a little unnecessary. So my thinking is that the options could be shown in a sidebar a-la the Theme Customizer (collapsible & everything).
That way it shows options while keeping the post at the forefront (only becoming modal when inserting images/media [still editing content]). Also, this method would follow existing design conventions. From what I can tell, all of the options would work in a sidebar, and the collapsible headers from the customizer would be a nicety as well.
Just mentioning it as a suggestion. Thanks for your hard work on this!
