installing templates

I have never needed a template myself, from the style comp, but can anyone recall whether the rules permitted alteration of the index.php. I guess my question is do you need to edit index.php to get the templates to work? Or not?

the css competition had the rule that index stays like it is.
so all the css on the page work on default template.

I can’t alter the colors? I know where to get them… I don’t know where to PUT them so I can change my blog to the templates I downloaded.
If I can’t alter the colors it doesn’t matter anyway…. and I can’t use CSS. I’ve tried and they confuse me to the point of screaming.

THAT is the help I needed! I got the new style in place and I will check out the tutorial.
Now on the styles am I allowed to change colors?

yeah u are free to do any kinda change in the CSS… that was one of the prerequisite of the competition.
